Who I  Am

I’m a lifelong prairie girl and Winnipeg enthusiast, but regularly engage in a love affair with the wilderness of Northern Lake Superior. I am a bit of a good-time Charlie, but am equally ambitious about engaging meaningful work. I have always been drawn to conversations that shape us, shift us, and connect us over time.

Outside of work, I’ve shared 28 years of love and bedlam with my humble champion and partner. Together we've enjoyed the challenge of raising three uniquely splendid humans, aided by our right-hand dog and loyal sidekick, Bruno.

I like to explore ideas through reading, writing, and photography. The embodied experiences of music and dance are key to being human for me. But on most evenings, you’ll find me under a bowl of popcorn watching a movie with the peanut gallery (my family) who all treat cinema like an interactive experience.

Path to Counselling

My path began in the field of physiotherapy, where I worked for 25 years. I always appreciated the relational side of the work, but over time, I became more and more drawn to the stories people shared. During moments of pain, grief, transition, and even end-of-life reflections, I began to understand the profound integration of body, mind and spirit. However, I lacked sufficient tools to support the emotional and existential pain people were carrying.

That longing, to be more present to people’s deeper experiences, led me back to school for a Master’s in Counselling. I initially intended to become a chaplain, but en route, found my way to therapy. It was an unexpected shift, and a welcome one. Counselling reflects my deepest values, and allows me to bring my whole self to the table. I’ve never felt more aligned with my work than I do now.
